This blog will document the efforts to preserve the Watts Campbell Co in Newark, NJ.
Watts Campbell is one of the oldest machine shops in the United States. First known as the Passaic Machine works the company was established in 1851 and has been located at its present location since 1853. The company's primary product were stationary steam engines used for industrial power sources.
The great grandson of one of the founders, Chad Watts, has been working to preserve the facility since 1986 when it was placed on the National Register.
